John Updike.

John Updike, Pulitzer-prize winning novelist, passed away yesterday at the age of 76 after battling lung cancer. Updike is best known for his Rabbit novels. His writing has been met with both disdain and praise from critics and readers alike. He had a talent for poeticizing the every day. Learn more from his obituary in The Globe and Mail or in The Toronto Star.

On a personal note, Updike is someone I've been meaning to read for a long time. He even published a new novel, The Widows of Eastwick, last year and a book of short fiction will be published this year. Given that life is short, I think I will get to it. Also, I think the above posted is a charming picture.
