Bettie Page

Bettie Page, pin up girl and icon of the sexual revolution, passed away yesterday of a heart attack. Ms. Page suffered a heart attack earlier this week and never regained consciousness. She was 85. She led a turbulent and often troubled life, the story of which is better recounted here in the Globe and Mail and here in the New York Times. She was quite the controversial figure of the 50's, even sparking a Senate inquiry.

For my part, I think she's beautiful. I especially like the picture I've posted. And note how much our culture has changed: here is a picture of a healthy looking beautiful woman who, in today's tabloids, would probably be considered fat. Progress, is it?
